Your First Visit
During your first visit to the office, you will receive a comprehensive dental exam which includes an oral cancer screening, gum disease evaluation, evaluation of existing restorations, and evaluation of tooth surfaces for decay. We may suggest preventive care options such as fluoride treatment, sealants, professional breath control, or periodontal treatments if necessary. However, the best way to treat periodontal disease is prevention. This includes daily brushing and flossing and regular dental visits for cleanings and exams. Simply through these preventive techniques, you can prevent tooth loss, gum disease, and bad breath, and therefore improve your overall health. Whether you’re coming in for a regular checkup or full periodontal therapy, our team is committed to making sure that you receive the best, most comfortable treatment.
Sealants are made of a resin material that is applied to the chewing surfaces of teeth, bonding to the depressions and grooves (pits and fissures) of the chewing surfaces of teeth. The sealant is a barrier that protects the enamel from plaque and acids. According to the American Dental Association, more than 80% of cavities are caused by the decay of those pits and fissures, which can begin early in life. If the sealant remains intact, your tooth is prevented from surface decay. The sealants are sturdy and can resist the force of normal chewing, and can last several years before reapplication is required. During regular checkups, our team will inspect your current sealants and reapply when necessary.
